Dr Monica Salamone

She graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Palermo in 1992 with 110 cum laude. From 1995 to 1999 she worked at the Lombardi Cancer Center, Georgetown University, Washington DC (USA) in the laboratory of Prof. WT Chen, where she studies the role of membrane-associated collagenases involved in the invasiveness of cancer cells and carries out part of the PhD in Biology Cellular and Development, which she achieved in 2000 at the University of Palermo. Since 2001, with a FIRC scholarship and then a post-doctoral fellow, she has worked, in the laboratory of Prof. MLVittorelli at the University of Palermo, where she studies extracellular vesicles released by tumor and endothelial cells. In 2008 he began a collaboration with the CNR and became interested in biotechnologies for biomedical applications and regenerative medicine. In 2010 she is co-founder of the Spin off Abiel. In 2010 she is "Visiting Research Fellow" at the Diabetes Research Institute University of Miami Miller School of Medicine at the laboratory of Prof. Antonello Pileggi. In 2016 she is "Visiting Research Fellow" at the Royal College of Surgery in Dublin at the laboratory of Prof. Garry Duffy. She has worked for several European research projects. she is also the owner of a European patent and numerous scientific publications.
